@drunkenmadman And here I was, thinking there were no more K-Mart stores. Didn't realize they hadn't completely folded yet.

@indigoparadox @kiwa I'm actually kinda surprised they didn't push an update to W7 just to make that message read Windows 11!

@kolli either way, I'd love to get my hands on something like that lol. It's a thing of beauty, and those drive enclosures (and hopefully controllers for it) are hard to find.

@kolli It really does just look to be an Imsai 8080, that someone replaced the plexi overlay on. Might have been a custom-refit, or some other company that "rebadged" one.

@Jake_Vig My dog woke me up before I was ready to wake up. She decided her breakfast was more important than my sleeping in.

@kiwa Yeah, if you create an account, you can set it back to the old style (or other styles). Definitely necessary now imo.

@BBQDeveloper Openshot is what I use when I need to slap a few clips together.

@hyrulian Update your Sources.list to have

old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu

Instead of archive.ubuntu.org

Done. All repos are still there, you just gotta modify your sources manually :)

@shaman What model is that? I'm pretty familiar with 1930's commercial airliners, and they all looks a whole lot cushier than that! This is a Boeing 247, in operation from 1933.

Only Sith deal in absolutes.

Yes, I realize the irony in that statement lol.

@thomasfuchs

"Gun nuts" irk me.

That being said, firearms are the great equalizer. They make the meek and disabled able to defend themselves from people who would do them harm. I have helped several gay and trans friends choose a pistol, and helped train them to defend themselves. Armed gays don't get bashed.

Mental health is the real problem. Folks in dark places do dark things, no matter what tools are available to them.

If this earns me a block, so be it. I'll show myself out.

@d_j_fitzgerald In my experience, the "bad caps" started with the SE/30 board, and anything for the decade or so after that.

@d_j_fitzgerald I've dealt with quite a few early macs. I currently have two Mac Plus', and two SE's, none of them have required a single cap after many 100's hours of use. Many folks on my discord server run their 128s and 512s without having to replace any caps. That being said, that's only my experience.

Nothing wrong with swapping out anything you feel is suspect, if you have the time and motivation. However if either of those are lacking, I wouldn't worry about it too much :)

@d_j_fitzgerald The only other "preventative maintenance" I do to early macs is swap out the eject gears in the floppy drives. Pretty simple job, and parts are readily available for a few bucks.
