The only way to stop the daily endless tragedies of innocent people's brains splattered on walls is to ban guns.
The only way to ban guns is for a political shift by ostracizing gun nuts--make life uncomfortable for them so that in order to rejoin society they have to give up on their murder machine penis replacements.

That being said, firearms are the great equalizer. They make the meek and disabled able to defend themselves from people who would do them harm. I have helped several gay and trans friends choose a pistol, and helped train them to defend themselves. Armed gays don't get bashed.
Mental health is the real problem. Folks in dark places do dark things, no matter what tools are available to them.
If this earns me a block, so be it. I'll show myself out.
