This poor thing, just got a Thinkpad 600x from my dad ( @yestergearpc ) and this thing is trying so hard to do what it needs to, but it hasn't been turned on in 20 years so it's struggling very hard #VintageTech #ibm #ibmpc #vintagepc
First post! Recently installed example of Sterling Farrance’s “audiophile edition” of a Triple Bypass board implementing my Research Assistant Ace’s Mega Amp circuit, a universal audio fix for Sega Genesis consoles. Various versions of this circuit are at the core of one of the Depot’s current research projects.
So, right now I'm using renpy, but I'm curious.. does anyone know any other good (free) game making softwares? I wanna look at my other options #gamedev #programmer
So I "made" a tape with @yestergearpc of a clip from the Mandela catalog, took us 2 days. Now I have a story by Mark Heathclif to watch on TV 😎 #themandelacatolog #analog #analoghorror #vhs #analogtv
Seven years ago, a fellow named "MIDI_MAN" compiled 130,000 unique MIDI files by browsing a ton of sites, placing them into directories, and generally assembling years of MIDI music.
Now that collection (1gb compressed, 3.5gb uncompressed, 130,000 files for real!) is at the Internet Archive at this URL:
@jlendino Ahh, yes, that makes sense. I run my own instance, so I only see hashtags that are 'common' on my 3-4 user server. I guess if people iterate on the hashtag on your instance, that'll muddy it up a bit. I could see that being a pain lol.
@jlendino Oh, that's odd. I can type #retrocomputing in my search bar and it just shows me everything. Perhaps it's server lag, or a misconfiguration somewhere.
@jlendino @3DBigBoxGames Plain text searching outside your own instance is disabled by design.
It prevents dogpiles, drama, and "hatescrolling" like is present on other forms of social media.
If you want your posts to be found, hashtags should be used, as they are searchable! While it may not make sense from a classic social media view, it really helps prevent many of the kinds of toxicity you find on other services.
@vkc If you use a HD floppy in a DD drive with the hole covered, you will run into problems eventually. The actual coating on the cookie is different, and the magnetic flux isn't as strong.
This will "work" usually, but you risk data loss very quickly - and this method should not be used if you expect a need to retain data on the disk.
@RoyGreenhilt Being able to block unwanted content, or groups of content creators/boosters is very much needed for the way the Mastodon federation works. Without a central "banning/moderation" authority, it's mandatory.
Communities being able to tailor their feeds to meet their needs is a wonderful thing.
My personal instance has thus far only blocked servers based on "art of underage people doing things underage people shouldn't be doing", as I don't want that touching my storage in any way.
@mogwaay Building a Graphics Gremlin by chance? ;)
@nnnoahhh If you follow them, and they do not show in your home feed, your client or the instance you're on might not be configured properly, or may be slow. Try seeing if their posts show on your Federated Feed, and check your Preferences.
@madrush mice with replaceable skins are always neat! Hadn't seen that one before!
@madrush basically yes. The Aqua Mouse came in lots of liveries, usually as promotional swag. A lot of them out there are pharmaceutical. The palm is a little water tank with a floating roadrunner (in this case). The Viagra one is highly sought lol.
@madrush Aqua Mouse is amazing :) Found this one NOS on eBay 5-6 years ago.
@CameronMeek I wanted it to look period correct :) The Green OLED was not cheap, and the orange push buttons match the reset switch.
