Here's my long-overdue #introduction:

Hello! I'm Hazel, a #nonbinary software developer.

I'm a #TransFem #enby #DemiGirl and I also describe myself as #lesbian, although its a bit more complicated than that. I care deeply about #trans issues, #queer life, and other #LGBTQ+ topics. DMs are open to anyone questioning their gender or struggling with their identity.

I also love #programming and #RetroComputing. I've got a particular fondness for 80s era computers, even though they're well before my time. There's just something fun about the unique and creative computer designs from that decade! I've got a Timex Sinclair 2068 that I especially love.

Some other things I like are #gaming, #anime, and #coffee. You'll often find me playing #GenshinImpact, #HonkaiStarRail, or some indie game from the latest Itch bundle, but I've recently joined a #TTRPG group and have been playing #DND 5e. My favorite programming languages are #CSharp and #TypeScript.

Feel free to start up a conversation about these or any other topics - I love to chat!

@hazel welcome to Mastodon, Hazel! There is a healthy #retrocomputing scene on here! Some of my favorites include @aradiogurl , @ActionRetro , @Maclibrarian , @mac84tv , and @yestergearpc to name a few off the top of my head.

Have a janky old Mac:

@d_j_fitzgerald Thanks for the links! I actually have a very similar system - a Macintosh 512ke. It unfortunately needs some work. It boots and runs, but the drive doesn't eject and the keyboard doesn't work. Some day I'll get around to fixing it!

@hazel @d_j_fitzgerald Mac 400/800k floppy drive eject gears are always bad. Luckily, you can find them pretty cheap! Not too hard to replace either. Keyboard could be one of several issues though, so that one's a bit more of a toughie.

@yestergearpc @d_j_fitzgerald Glad to hear that about the gears! I also have an external drive with the same problem.

Regarding the keyboard, I've tested the continuity on the cable, cleaned the contacts and sockets, and inspected the PCB and components for any obvious damage. I've done the same checks on the Mac as well. None of the keys feel stuck or damaged. Does that help identify the problem?
